Junior Volunteer Program
Duke HomeCare & Hospice
The application process for the following program is closed. Please visit this website for future opportunities for high school students.
Duke Health is excited to offer an enhanced learning opportunity for high school students to be held in June 2024. The Youth Symposium on Healthcare Careers is sponsored by the Duke University Health System Volunteer Services and replaces our Junior Volunteer Program for this summer 2024. Due to the changing healthcare environment, it was time to refresh our program. The program will continually evolve with time.
The event will occur on the following dates at two locations: Duke University Hospital (in Durham) and Duke Raleigh Hospital, a campus of Duke University Hospital (in Raleigh). Participants must be 16 or 17 years old (16 years old by June 24, 2024) and attend both days at their selected location and stay for the entire event.
- Durham Dates: June 25 & June 27, 2024
- Raleigh Dates: June 24 & June 27, 2024
Professionals from a variety of healthcare occupations will present and discuss their career journeys. Basic tours of the hospital and hospital based clinics will be conducted, showcasing arts in health, hospice care and hands on CPR training plus opportunities for service. Participants will be provided with a certificate of completion of 14 volunteer hours.
