About Me
I am the chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Duke Children's Hospital. I treat a wide variety of conditions affecting the brain and spine in children, including tumors, hydrocephalus, trauma, and craniosynostosis. I consider it a real privilege to earn a family's trust with their child's health. I enjoy building relationships with the family unit and understanding the specific details of their situation that need consideration in their child's care to ensure a smooth hospitalization experience. Our team leverages the expertise available at Duke Children's Hospital to achieve the best possible outcome for each patient. Witnessing a child return to a normal or improved life after intervention is incredibly gratifying, and seeing them thrive years later is one of the most special aspects of pediatric neurosurgery.

Clinical Focus and Research
I have several areas of research interest I have published multiple clinical research papers on AVM, and am involved in ongoing collaboration linking DNA methylation profiling of AVM samples to clinical data. I have also worked with a team of a bioengineer and a maternal-fetal medicine specialist to create a novel ventriculoamniotic shunt to be used in children who develop hydrocephalus secondary to aqueductal stenosis prior to birth. I have many ongoing clinical research projects.
