Our Providers
Geriatricians in Durham
Our team of geriatric medicine specialists have completed advanced training in geriatric medicine. We are experts in the effects of aging, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of age-related disorders. In addition to comprehensive physical examinations, our services include:
- Optimizing your memory by diagnosing and managing memory-related problems
- Helping you improve strength, balance, and mobility to avoid falls and fall-related injuries
- Evaluating and treating mood changes including depression and anxiety
- Performing a medication review to avoid adverse effects and ensure that each medication is serving a purpose
- Helping you maintain independence and improve your day-to-day function
- Discussing advance care planning and directives
- Assisting you and your caregivers with choosing an appropriate level of care when care needs increase
Family members and caregivers are an integral part of your evaluation and are encouraged to attend appointments. We do not provide primary care, but we will communicate any recommendations and treatment plans to your primary care provider. We collaborate with them as part of your care.
Because we take a patient and family-centered approach to care, we also work with your loved ones and caregivers to help them understand and manage care needs and assist in care planning discussions with them.
Accepted Insurance
Duke Health contracts with most major health insurance carriers and transplant networks, including the ones listed below. Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher. We will contact you regarding your coverage and patient liability. If you are uninsured, learn more about our financial assistance policy.
