Duke Gastroenterology North Durham
Duke gastroenterologists are part of a team of GI specialists who diagnose and treat gastrointestinal disorders that affect the esophagus, stomach, intestine, liver, and pancreas. We assess your condition using the latest diagnostic equipment and recommend treatment to help you experience relief. We do our best to coordinate your care and your appointments so you can make the most of your time at our clinic.

Our Providers
Diagnosis, Treatment and, Management of GI Disorders
You may come to our clinic for initial evaluation, nonsurgical treatment or management of:
- Stomach disorders such as peptic ulcer disease
- Intestinal disorders such as abdominal pain, anemia/nutritional deficiencies, and celiac disease
- Motility and functional gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome
- Liver diseases such as fatty liver, hepatitis, cirrhosis
- Colon and rectal disease such as diarrhea, constipation, and rectal bleeding
GI specialists also provide care for the following conditions:
- Esophageal disorders. Duke esophageal specialists include gastroenterologists and thoracic surgeons who care for people with esophageal disorders including: gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), swallowing disorders such as esophageal dysphagia, and esophageal motility disorders such as achalasia.
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This team includes specialized IBD gastroenterologists, a colorectal surgeon and dietitian. They work together to provide medical, nutritional and surgical management of IBD.
Managing your care can be a complex process that requires multiple visits for evaluation, testing, and possibly surgery, when needed, as well as follow-up care. Our specialists work together to ensure your care is streamlined to make the most of your visits when you come to Duke.
Equipment
Our gastroenterologists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners will conduct a thorough evaluation and may recommend tests to determine the cause of and best treatment for your condition. Lab work is performed on site. If you require additional testing, including imaging or endoscopic procedures, you will be directed to another Duke clinic.

Duke Health contracts with most major health insurance carriers and transplant networks, including the ones listed below. Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher.
