My physical therapy specialty is pelvic floor health. The patients I serve usually have pelvic floor dysfunction that can result in several different issues, including urinary and/or fecal incontinence, bladder prolapse, rectal prolapse, post-prostatectomy symptoms, constipation, as well as bladder, lower abdominal, and pelvic pain. I also see women for pre- and postnatal care to help them prepare for childbirth and recover from delivery. When rehabilitating patients, I include Pilates one day a week. I emphasize strengthening the core and body connectivity through movement patterns. I look at my patients from a whole body perspective, and educate them on the importance of postural alignment with every day activities to prevent injury and undue stress on the body. The way we move and breathe through space affects our bodies and can affect the way our pelvic floor functions. I take pride in sharing this knowledge with my patients to improve their quality of life.
