About Me
When a child needs surgical care, it can be one of the most challenging times in a family’s life. My goal is to care for my patients and their families in the same way that I want my own children cared for - with excellence, compassion, and clear communication. I take care of children with many different conditions, including neonatal and congenital anomalies, diaphragmatic hernia, esophageal diseases, anorectal malformations, pulmonary malformations, biliary atresia, and intestinal conditions, such as Hirschsprung’s Disease. I also provide surgical care for infants and children with childhood cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, traumatic injuries, chest wall deformities, such as pectus excavatum or carinatum, and thyroid and other endocrine surgical entities. I favor minimally invasive surgical approaches whenever safe and feasible. When I am not at the hospital, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family hiking, biking, and playing tennis.

Clinical Focus and Research
My research focuses on improving the lives of children and families confronted with difficult decisions, such as surgical decision-making, in the face of uncertainty and end-of-life issues. I use tools from epidemiology, decision-making sciences, and child outcomes research to address ethical challenges surrounding the care of seriously ill fetuses and neonates.
