About Me
I treat all rheumatic diseases with a special interest and expertise in the management of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and antiphospholipid syndrome (APLS). I also have a focus in the area of adolescent and young adult health and am always eager to work with patients in this age group as they develop skills for independently managing their health and navigate the process of transferring from pediatric to adult rheumatology care. Having completed both adult and pediatric rheumatology fellowships, I am fortunate to be able to work with young adult rheumatology patients throughout their transition process.

Ratings and Reviews
The ratings and reviews are based on patient responses to the overall provider rating question from the survey. The question reads: “Using any number from 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst provider possible and 10 is the best provider possible, what number would you use to rate this provider?” Responses are converted to a 5-point rating system and applied consistently to all providers. Learn more about our survey process. Patients who see some types of providers receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Those results are not available on DukeHealth.org.
Training and Education
Clinical Focus and Research
My research pertains to understanding immune dysregulation in lupus, including how lupus patients respond to vaccines, as well as examining transition outcomes in adolescent and young adults with rheumatic diseases and evaluating the efficiency of curricula aimed at teaching residents and fellows how to help adolescents and young adults transition from pediatric care to adult care.
