About Me

I became interested in pelvic floor disorders because of the emphasis on improving the quality of life. For most pelvic floor disorders – bladder, bowel, sexual dysfunction, or vaginal bulge – there are usually multiple treatment options with different pros and cons. Because each woman is different, I tend to teach each patient about her own pelvic floor issues, and then we collaborate to develop a treatment plan that incorporates her specific goals. I am actively involved in research because I think that is the way that we will develop better treatment options for women. In my spare time, I love to cook, entertain friends, and travel with my husband and children.

Ratings and Reviews

The Patient Rating score is an average of all responses to care provider related questions on our nationally-recognized Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Learn more about our survey process. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best score. Patients who see some types of providers receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Those results are not available on DukeHealth.org.

Clinical Focus and Research

My Research Interests

I study how the urinary microbiome (the carpet of healthy bacteria living in the bladder) changes with aging and influences conditions like overactive bladder and recurrent urinary tract infections. I also conduct studies on "bladder control disorders," like overactive bladder and urgency urinary incontinence. This includes overseeing a research registry for implanted nerve stimulation devices that are used to treat bladder and bowel control issues.
