About Me
I am a clinician dedicated to helping children and adults preserve and restore their vision. I perform a wide variety of procedures including cataract surgery, cornea transplants and Lasik surgery. I also see a large number of patients with ocular surface disease, ranging from dry eye to limbal stem cell disease. At Duke, we are able to offer new technologies and unique surgeries for these conditions. I truly love what I do and the relationships I build with my patients. When I am not busy at work, I am home spending time with my two children or trying to sneak in a long run.

Ratings and Reviews
The ratings and reviews are based on patient responses to the overall provider rating question from the survey. The question reads: “Using any number from 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst provider possible and 10 is the best provider possible, what number would you use to rate this provider?” Responses are converted to a 5-point rating system and applied consistently to all providers. Learn more about our survey process. Patients who see some types of providers receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Those results are not available on DukeHealth.org.

Clinical Focus and Research
My research interests include the treatment of complex ocular surface diseases such as dry eye, graft vs. host disease, ocular cicatricial pemphigoid, and limbal stem disease. The cornea and the tear film that cover it are of utmost importance in having clear sharp vision it is my goal to find effective treatments that work for common dry eye problems as well as develop surgical options for complex cornea problems from disease or trauma. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to give someone their sight back or help someone enjoy life again because their eyes are more comfortable.
