About Me
I am trained in internal geriatric medicine. I am passionate about providing individualized care. Medicine is not something that can be prescribed as one size fits all. Each person requires different, nuanced decision-making, and only through good communication between patient and doctor can this be achieved. My scope of practice includes providing preventative health services and treating acute and chronic medical conditions.

Ratings and Reviews
The Patient Rating score is an average of all responses to care provider related questions on our nationally-recognized Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Learn more about our survey process. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best score. Patients who see some types of providers receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Those results are not available on DukeHealth.org.

Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher. We will contact you regarding your coverage and patient liability. If you are uninsured, learn more about our financial assistance policy.
Dr. Hockenbury does a great job of explaining procedures, medicines and side-effects, etc., in layman's terms.
As always, Dr. Hockenbury provided a thorough examination and review of my health situation and needs. It is a pleasure having a primary care physician who obviously cares about his patients.
Dr Hockenbury is excellent

Everyone at the location was very nice and courteous. The provider took the time to listen and respond appropriately. They explained their answers when I was confused. I appreciate the help.
This was my first visit with Dr H. He kept eye contact at all times when talking with me and was genuinely concerned. Thank you.
