About Me
I have aspired to be a physician since I was five years old. The ability to help others and make a positive difference in the lives of my patients has always appealed to me. As an oncologist, I cherish the close and long-term relationships I have with my patients and their families. Establishing this connection, and understanding each person’s unique goals and values, allows me to provide the very best individualized care and treatment plan. As a medical oncologist with Duke Cancer Center, I specialize in thoracic oncology, seeing patients with lung cancer as well as mesothelioma. I am fortunate to have a terrific multidisciplinary team, ensuring the patient is at the center of every discussion. When I am not working, I love spending time with my golden retriever Ace, my friends, and my family.

Ratings and Reviews
The ratings and reviews are based on patient responses to the overall provider rating question from the survey. The question reads: “Using any number from 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst provider possible and 10 is the best provider possible, what number would you use to rate this provider?” Responses are converted to a 5-point rating system and applied consistently to all providers. Learn more about our survey process. Patients who see some types of providers receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Those results are not available on DukeHealth.org.

Clinical Focus and Research
My research is aimed at advancing the treatments of patients with lung cancer, mesothelioma, and other thoracic cancers. To do so, I am involved with designing and leading clinical trials which offer new and exciting options to our patients. I am also passionate about new advancements for patients with brain metastases from their lung cancer. I work with a wonderful multidisciplinary team including other medical oncologists, thoracic surgeons, radiation oncologists, pulmonologists, radiologists, and pathologists. Our shared goal is to provide exceptional, personalized care and find the very best therapies that will enable our patients to fight their cancer.
