About Me
I am a pediatric hematologist and oncologist, with further specialization in neuro-oncology. I treat pediatric patients with central nervous system (CNS) tumors in the brain and spine. I am also involved in the Duke Comprehensive Neurofibromatosis Clinic where I see children and adults with neurofibromatosis type I and II. I believe that all children should have the same chance of cure regardless of where they live. I work both here at Duke and in Tanzania, Africa to help families navigate through what is an incredibly difficult time in their lives. My patients always show such incredible courage and strength, and I am honored to be a part of their treatment team. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling in the U.S. and abroad, photography and cooking, which are usually influenced by each new place that I visit.

Clinical Focus and Research
I am actively involved in clinical trials for both pediatric high and low grade brain tumors. Additionally, I believe that children should have the same chance of cancer cure regardless of where they live. I spend 6 months per year in Tanzania in East Africa, collaborating with clinicians and administrators to develop a pediatric cancer program. Our research focuses on creating interventions to improve cancer outcomes and reducing treatment abandonment in low resource settings.
