About Me
I gravitated to rheumatology early in my medical training because of the opportunities it affords to provide long-term, holistic care for my patients. Developing relationships with my patients allows me to better understand their individual needs and help them understand and manage what are often complex diseases and symptoms that may change with time. Within rheumatology, my primary clinical interests are in inflammatory arthritis, lupus, and musculoskeletal ultrasound. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, travel, nature, and science fiction.

Ratings and Reviews
The ratings and reviews are based on patient responses to the overall provider rating question from the survey. The question reads: “Using any number from 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst provider possible and 10 is the best provider possible, what number would you use to rate this provider?” Responses are converted to a 5-point rating system and applied consistently to all providers. Learn more about our survey process. Patients who see some types of providers receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Those results are not available on DukeHealth.org.

Clinical Focus and Research
Previously, I studied the importance of exercise for improving quality of life in patients with osteoarthritis. I most recently examined medication adherence among a group of poorly assimilated Chinese immigrant patients in New York City’s Chinatown to understand ways to improve their outcomes. I continue to have an interest in international and public health, specifically health disparities among different population groups.
