About Me

I am a board-certified genetic counselor involved in the care of individuals with inborn errors of metabolism. I provide genetic counseling services across the lifespan to individuals with glycogen storage diseases, lysosomal storage diseases, and other inborn errors of metabolism. My primary area of interest is newborn screening for Pompe disease. I am part of a multidisciplinary team, including a biochemical geneticist, metabolic dietitian, physical therapist, and genetics nurses. Our team is dedicated to expanding clinical, biochemical, and molecular knowledge of rare diseases to improve patient outcomes.

Clinical Focus and Research

My Research Interests

My team and I study the clinical outcomes of patients diagnosed with Pompe disease via newborn screening. Pompe disease, also known as glycogen storage disease II, is a rare and highly variable genetic condition that affects 1 in 20,000 to 1 in 40,000 individuals worldwide. We are interested in learning about symptom onset, timing of treatment, and patient outcomes after early intervention. Additionally, we are interested in gaining a better understanding of rare genetic variants, or "variants of uncertain significance," and their potential contributions to Pompe disease and other inherited conditions.
