About Me
I am a sports medicine surgeon, specializing in injuries of the knee, shoulder, elbow, and ankle/foot. I treat patients of all ages from pediatrics to master’s athletes and the weekend warrior to professionals. I perform complex shoulder surgery, including shoulder stabilization, rotator cuff surgery, superior capsular reconstruction, and reverse arthroplasty. I also do complex knee surgery, including ACL and meniscus surgery, patellar stabilizations, multi-ligament knee injuries, and advanced techniques for cartilage preservation and restoration. I also utilize the latest minimally-invasive techniques to treat foot and ankle injuries, including ankle instability, cartilage restoration, Achilles injuries, and fractures. I am currently the team physician for Duke Athletics, including soccer, basketball, football, baseball, and Olympic sports. I am also the Director of FIFA medical center. I am excited to be practicing sports medicine at Duke Health and am looking forward to getting you back in the game.

Ratings and Reviews
The ratings and reviews are based on patient responses to the overall provider rating question from the survey. The question reads: “Using any number from 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst provider possible and 10 is the best provider possible, what number would you use to rate this provider?” Responses are converted to a 5-point rating system and applied consistently to all providers. Learn more about our survey process. Patients who see some types of providers receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Those results are not available on DukeHealth.org.

Clinical Focus and Research
I am able to stay at the forefront of sports medicine for my patients with advanced imaging techniques to understand and improve treatment outcomes. I have additional training as a radiologist and utilize 3D MRI and fluoroscopy techniques, as well as functional sequences to evaluate how injuries and their treatments affect the bone, cartilage, and soft tissues. Another focus of mine is studying the biomechanics of different surgical treatments and rehabilitation strategies that can be used to treat sports injuries. My clinical research interests are in employing the knowledge learned from novel imaging techniques and biomechanical testing and translating these surgical advances to patients.
