About Me

I am a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in the medical management of diseases of the retina and vitreous, such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disorders, and uveitis. My interest in ophthalmology began during my Ph.D. training while studying retinal development in Dr. Colin Barnstable’s lab. I stayed at Penn State for my ophthalmology residency and completed my fellowship in medical retina and uveitis at the National Eye Institute, National Institutes of Health. During this time, I evaluated patients with common retinal disorders, such as macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, as well as rare vitreoretinal disorders. I also participated in several clinical studies related to macular degeneration, inherited retinal disease, and uveitis. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring local trails and farmers markets and spending time with my family and pet cat.

Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher. We will contact you regarding your coverage and patient liability. If you are uninsured, learn more about our financial assistance policy.
