As part of the interdisciplinary Movement Disorders team, I offer support and resources to all of our patients and families. I meet many patients during their initial clinic visits and at the time of diagnosis but am available at any time. Common clinical social work needs include resource sharing, mental health assessments, and brief interventions, substance abuse support, assistance with changes in work-related abilities, and activities of daily life, end of life decision making and planning, and more. For patients with Huntington's disease, a clinical social work visit is part of regularly scheduled clinic appointments. I also organize community events, including support groups for those impacted by Parkinson's Disease and Huntington's Disease. Throughout the year, you can expect our center to host a variety of events for people in different stages of movement disorders, which I organize as the Center of Excellence Coordinator.
