Clinical Trials at Duke

Studies and Research that Answer Health-Related Questions

Clinical research has led to the development of new drugs, new surgical procedures, and devices, and new behaviors designed to advance the public's health. It has also helped doctors and other providers to discover new ways to identify people at risk for and help prevent or delay certain diseases. Many of these medical advances occurred because people volunteered to participate in clinical trials and other types of clinical research.

ResearchMatch brings together two groups of people who are looking for one another:

  • people who are trying to find research studies.
  • researchers who are looking for people to participate in their studies.
Why Participate in a Clinical Trial

People participate in clinical research and trials because they want to take part in the advancement of new discoveries, they feel empowered when they take a more active role in their health, or they can gain access to new therapies before they are widely available. Volunteers include healthy individuals from surrounding communities as well as people with known health problems.

Advancing Health Is Our Mission

Duke Health is actively involved in many types of clinical research because advancing health is our core mission. As an academic medical center, we are dedicated to developing, discovering, and using the latest health-related advances.
