Duke Wakefield Mohs Surgery
Mohs surgeon Christopher Stamey, MD, consults with people who have been diagnosed with skin cancer, and performs Mohs micrographic surgery. The outpatient procedure is considered the most effective way to remove complex and recurrent cases of skin cancer, and often results in the smallest scars. A referral is required to schedule an appointment and should be accompanied by a biopsy report confirming the presence of skin cancer.

Mohs Surgery in Raleigh
Dr. Stamey often provides a consultation during which the best treatment options are discussed for your type of skin cancer. Mohs surgery is typically used to remove basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and some cases of melanoma.
During the procedure, Dr. Stamey alternates removing and analyzing thin layers of cancerous tissue until all the cancerous tissue is removed. Reconstructive repairs are often made to the treated area immediately following the procedure. Post-operative care plans are provided and follow-up appointments are also scheduled to ensure proper healing.
