Orthopaedic Specialists in Durham Treat Joint Pain and Injuries

Make an appointment at our orthopaedic clinic in Durham if you experience an injury or chronic pain in your feet, ankles, hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, back, or neck. This includes injuries resulting from a sports or recreational activity. We diagnose and treat sprains, strains, fractures, tendon, and ligament tears. We also evaluate and treat chronic joint pain that limits your range of motion or makes it difficult to perform routine activities.

Our physician assistants and nurse practitioners are often the first medical professional you will see. They are specially trained in joint and bone pain and injuries. They perform exams, refer you for imaging scans (X-rays are available right in our office), and explain your results.

Nonsurgical Treatments Offered

As part of your treatment plan, they may recommend a range of nonsurgical orthopaedic treatments, such as bracing and casting, joint injections, and more. Physical therapy takes place in a different clinic in the same building.

Physiatrist Care

Our physiatrist is a medical doctor who teaches you how to safely strengthen muscles, stabilize joints, rehabilitate injuries, and increase your flexibility. Physiatrists may help you find relief from chronic pain with or without surgery. They offer a variety of treatments including image-guided injections.

Orthopaedic Surgeons in Durham

Surgery may be needed if your injury is serious and nonsurgical options are not effective. It may also be recommended if you experience chronic pain that can be corrected by joint replacement surgery. To determine if surgery is needed, you will be evaluated by an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in your type of joint injury. They will see you before and after your surgery at this clinic. Operations are performed at Duke Regional Hospital, Duke University Hospital, or our ambulatory surgery centers.

Accepted Insurance

Duke Health contracts with most major health insurance carriers and transplant networks, including the ones listed below. Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher. We will contact you regarding your coverage and patient liability. If you are uninsured, learn more about our financial assistance policy.
