Duke Innovative Pain Therapies at Brier Creek
You may be referred to our pain clinic in Brier Creek for a comprehensive consultation if you suffer from chronic pain in any part of your body. This includes chronic headaches, facial pain, TMJ or jaw pain, and joint pain, and pain in your muscles and/or tendons. We offer non-surgical, non-opioid treatments right in our office to help relieve your discomfort and return to your daily activities. We also perform comprehensive evaluations for obstructive sleep apnea.

- Nerve pain disorders: trigeminal neuralgia, burning mouth syndrome, occipital neuralgia
- Primary headache disorders such as migraines and tension type headaches, cluster headaches
- Teeth grinding and clenching
Obstructive Sleep Apnea Treatment Options
If you suffer from snoring or obstructive sleep apnea, we perform a comprehensive evaluation and offer a variety of treatment options, in coordination with sleep medicine physicians. For example, if you have mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea and have failed or could not tolerate positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy, you may qualify for a custom-fitted oral appliance. These appliances are fitted during an office visit.
Joint and Muscle Pain
Our pain management specialists also treat conditions that include but are not limited to:
- Arthritis, joint, and muscle injuries
- Back pain and neck pain
- Ligament strains
- Tendonitis and tendinopathy, a breakdown of collagen in the tendons that can result in weakness and pain. This is common in the Achilles tendon, rotator cuff, hip, and knee, but may occur in other parts of the body as well.
Non-Surgical, Non-Opioid Treatments for Chronic Pain
Our clinic offers the full range of non-surgical, non-opioid treatment options to relieve your pain. After a comprehensive evaluation of your condition, our pain management specialists may recommend one or more of the following options, which are performed in the comfort of our offices:
- Ultrasound and X-ray guided injections (including steroids, trigger point injections, and botulinum toxin - Botox)
- Peripheral nerve blocks
- Hands-on physical therapy
- Psychotherapy counseling for emotional wellness and coping skills
Regenerative Pain Medicine
You may be evaluated to participate in our regenerative pain medicine program. It harnesses the body’s natural healing processes and includes treatments such as autologous conditioned serum injections for arthritis pain.
