About Me

I am an interventional cardiologist and researcher who has been at Duke for nearly 20 years. I enjoy being at Duke because of the “family” I get to work with every day. When we are able to make a patient feel better through teamwork; it’s a great feeling. I chose cardiology as my specialty because of the chance to make a difference in someone’s life in real time. When someone is having a heart attack, they are relying on you to come to their aid quickly. At that moment, I get to apply science to save a life, while learning more about what we can do to help improve people’s lives in the future. In that way, medicine also gives me the chance to learn from my patients and apply what I find to benefit the greater good. I find that whole process is exciting. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my school-aged children.

Ratings and Reviews

The Patient Rating score is an average of all responses to care provider related questions on our nationally-recognized Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Learn more about our survey process. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best score. Patients who see some types of providers receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Clinical Focus and Research

My Research Interests

I am interested studying therapies that improve outcomes in patients with coronary (CAD) and peripheral artery disease (PAD). This includes drugs, devices, and our process of care for patients with cardiovascular disease. I am also focused on studying and improving the patient experience as they go through invasive cardiovascular procedures. I have been involved in several large clinical trials that have demonstrated the benefit of some of these new therapies such as novel anticoagulants, new ways to image the heart and new therapies for patients with PAD.
