About Me
As a physician at Executive Health, I love getting to know my patients as unique individuals and being able to help them meet their goals. I am also a health services researcher, as well as Director of the Precision Medicine Program here at Duke. I specialize in understanding how genetics and health and family history play a part in determining health risks for patients. I have the unique opportunity to be able to spend time with our patients looking at their history and helping them to understand what they can do to improve and maintain health and wellness. I’ve been at Duke for 21 years and attended Tulane Medical Center for Medical School and Internal Medicine Residency. In my spare time, I enjoy staying active, reading on the porch, spending time with my husband and son and tending to my horses on our farm.

Clinical Focus and Research
My program is engaged in a wide spectrum of implementation research to understand how to optimize and incorporate precision medicine approaches into clinical care. These include everything from how to incorporate genomic, environmental, behavioral, and clinical data to better tailor an individual's clinical care to how best to collect and analyze family health history. My personal area of expertise is in applying informatics approaches to identifying and managing individuals at increased risk for medical conditions. In my 20y+ ear career at Duke I have published 80+ manuscripts, secured extensive grant funding, and speak internationally about optimizing disease risk assessment.
