Randomized Phase 3 study of Peri-op Physical Activity in Lung Cancer - Clinical Trial

What is the Purpose of this Study?

We are doing this study to find out if a personalized exercise program designed for lung cancer patients can help with recovery from lung surgery. The study's exercise program is delivered over the phone.

Who Can Participate in the Study?

Adults ages 65+ who:

  • Are diagnosed with lung cancer
  • Are scheduled to have surgery between 7-30 days from the time they join the study
  • Family members who are caregivers for the study participant may also take part in this study.

    What is Involved?

    If you choose to join this study, you will get a random assignment (like a coin flip) to either:

    • Take part in the study exercise program, which involves wearing a pedometer and joining a telephone-coaching group with telephone-based physical activity coaching (5 sessions); OR
    • Get a standard guidance packet related to physical activity after surgery from the American Society of Clinical Oncology

    Participation is expected to last about 7 months. During this time, we will keep in touch with you to see how you are doing.
