SLIVR - Clinical Trial
What is the Purpose of this Study?
We are doing this study to find out if a new type of assessment works well for middle-aged and older adults with sickle cell disease (SCD). We want to see if this assessment is useful in detecting changes in health. We hope the assessment can provide useful information to help improve the quality of life for adults with sickle cell disease.

What is Involved?
If you choose to join this study, you will visit our clinic 1-4 times a year for up to 10 years to have the study assessments done. These assessments will take about an hour to finish and will include the following:
- Walking tests
- Balance tests
- Upper-body strength testing and measurement
- Chair stands
- Blood draws and urine collections
- Surveys
During these visits, we will give you an activity monitor to keep track of your physical activity for one week after each visit. This activity monitor fits around your wrist like a watch.
