A chilled water pipe inside a wall burst on Dec. 26 at Duke University Hospital, causing flooding in several areas, including the Emergency Department. Incoming ambulance patients are being temporarily referred to other nearby hospitals. Emergency patients who arrive to DUH by their own means are being attended to in alternative sites at the hospital that were unaffected by the flooding. We urge members of the public to seek emergency care at other area hospitals or an urgent care center if possible. We hope to resume normal operations as soon as possible.
