About Me
I’m an orthopaedic surgeon that specializes in elbow, wrist and hand injuries. I treat fractures, sports injuries and acute traumas, as well as more common ailments like tendonitis, carpal tunnel, arthritis and trigger fingers. The best thing about going to work every day is that regardless of the number of patients I have at a time, I have the opportunity to make a difference in each patient’s life. Duke offers cutting edge technology and research, but we also excel in patient care. That combination makes Duke a special place for our patients. Outside of work, I like to spend time with my wife and two children. We enjoy following the Boston Red Sox and local baseball teams. For exercise I like to run, swim and play tennis.

Areas of Expertise
Ratings and Reviews
The ratings and reviews are based on patient responses to the overall provider rating question from the survey. The question reads: “Using any number from 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst provider possible and 10 is the best provider possible, what number would you use to rate this provider?” Responses are converted to a 5-point rating system and applied consistently to all providers. Learn more about our survey process. Patients who see some types of providers receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Those results are not available on DukeHealth.org.

Clinical Focus and Research
The majority of my research evaluates the clinical outcomes of fractures of the upper extremity. I have a particular interest in wrist and elbow fractures. I also have an interest in improving ways to treat elbow arthritis in young patients. Our hand surgery group is involved in a number of multicenter clinical trials evaluating wrist fractures and peripheral nerve injuries.
